The meeting was opened with a prayer and the pledge by Brother Gaynor. Members enjoyed a corn beef and cabbage dinner. Many thanks to Patti Gaynor for preparing the food. Brother Jon Byrum won the $50 attendance award.
The following candidates visited and spoke to our members: Rose Wing Ga. House District 37, Ricci Mason Cobb Commission Chair, Kellie Hill Superior Court Judge, Diana Simmons State Court Judge and Fitz Johnson Cobb Commissioner District 2. We appreciate each candidate taking the time to talk to our members.
Twenty four new members were voted into the Lodge.
President Steve Gaynor - Brother Gaynor spoke about the upcoming Georia State FOP Conference June 14th - 17th at Callaway Gardens. Eight folks showed interest in attending. Brother Gaynor announced the Cops & Kids Golf Tournament will be at Brookstone Country Club on Monday, September 28th. Complete details will be posted soon.
VP Jon Byrum - Brother Byrum will be handling all invitations to meetings and our endorsement process.

Secretary/Treasurer Jimmy Stephens - Brother Stephens provided a membership update. After April 1st those members who have not paid their 2020 dues will be assessed a $32 fee to continue their membership with the lodge. In additional all members who have not paid their 2020 dues by April 1st will be suspended from the lodge until payment is received. Brother Stephens also reported both the Lodge and Charities Inc are in good financial condition. Reports are available at all meetings.
Our new Cops & Kids website is at www.lodge13copandkids.org. It now provides the central point for all of our childrens program information.
Sgt at Arms Carl Dimare - Checked on the lodge during the month and all is well. He also thanked Brother Shrodes for his efforts with the water leak and getting the dead trees taken down.
2nd Sgt at Arms Mark Matthews - Brother Matthews reported all was well with the lodge and at Douglas County.
State Trustee Kevin Shrodes - Brother Shrodes reported on the hiring a service to removed the dead trees on the property and checking on the water leak into the lodge from the side of the building. He also advised he wanted to have a work day at the lodge soon to make various repairs.
All active Law Enforcement Officers in the State of Georgia, regardless of your affiliation with the lodge should join the Peace Officers Annuity and Benefit Fund. This very low cost fund provides another piece to the puzzle of our officers overall retirement picture. Current cost is only $20 per month.
Sponsorships / Donations
Members provided a sponsorship of $500 to the Blue Knights Motorcycle Ride on April 25th.
Yearly dues for our members in 2020 will continue to be $78 for active members and $35 for retired members. All online 2020 payments will have a $3 convenience fee added when using our Paypal Account. On April 1st a $32 penalty will be added to the cost for all who have not paid their 2020 dues.
All members are strongly encouraged to join the FOP Legal Defense Plan. For $68 a year (in addition to your dues) the member will be enrolled in UNLIMITED legal coverage for any criminal (includes Critical Incidents) or civil action taken against the member. For $310 a year the member will be enrolled in UNLIMITED legal coverage for any criminal (includes Critical Incidents), civil or administrative actions taken against the member. Many other benefits are provided when full coverage is purchased. Payment can be made either annually or semi-annually. Because of the number of members in our lodge these plans are only available at the individual rate. Sign up and payment to this plan is the sole responsibility of the member. All active members are requested to update their personal information and beneficiary information on an annual basis on our application form. The application form must be mailed to the Lodge Secretary. This can only be done on a paper application form and mailed to the lodge secretary. This record allows benefits to be paid in a timely manner.
All members wishing to apply for a Life Membership (retired & a member 20+ years) must request it in writing. Please contact the Lodge Secretary if you need your join date.
The lodge is for the exclusive use of our members and only available for rental by them. Please conact President Gaynor for cost if you wish to reserve the lodge.
